echoes/children is a site-specific mixed-media piece developed in collaboration with multimedia artist David Yates in late 2021 in response to the increasingly urgent environmental catastrophe of anthropogenic climate change.
Experiments with sound, movement, and projections created an immersive environment spanning spacetimes and reflecting on the reverberations from past to future of human activity. This new work with an original sound score, was developed during a time of change and uncertainty about what reverberates onto the future from the choices we make today.
Performed 2021 at The Wee Spoke Hub Edinburgh

love letters to the sea
multi-disciplinary semi-structured improvisational work by Monica De Ioanni and David Yates. A meditation on daily life and themes of environmental justice. Slicing instantiations, from the kitchen window, from the sea, from bodies of water and industrial water works, into a visual and sonic collage; a story of oceans, continuua, and love, is told through movement and sound.

L ī l ā - The Cosmic Play aims to look at our sense of belonging and identity. The artists explore the universal theme of the ‘Cycle of life’, the continual turning of the seasons, our connection with nature and the elements, our human need to question our existence, searching for understanding and marking important events with acts of sacred ritual.
Monica De Ioanni and Marion Kenny draw inspiration from ancient traditions of music, storytelling and dance from around the world with particular reference to Bali in Indonesia where both artists have studied ancient dance theatre.
Whilst drawing inspiration from age-old traditions, the artists create original musical compositions, new choreography and retell the eternal story of Cosmic Play.

Dance-theatre and live music performance. Liam and Monica share a common goal within their artistic practice: to manifest the visions, movements and music that are born within the subconscious. The resulting performance reflects this artistic method and is about personal metamorphosis and the transitions between being and becoming.
