🍂 ECHOES OF LAND 🌳

The Echoes of Land Project is dedicated to cultivating dialogue and experimentation at the heart of the environment — where art meets ecology, and movement becomes a tool for connection and discovery.

“You can be yourself in nature — nature is just there, and nature doesn’t judge you.”

Participant

Echoes of Land project is an eco-performance and outdoor creative learning program centred on children’s voices and integrating dance, music, and ecology. 🌳

ecological awareness & creativity

The aim is to nurture creativity and ecological awareness through a community-based performance co-created with children in public green spaces, encouraging reflection on their role in responding to climate change 🌏

The project culminates in site-specific performances, where children and movement practitioners bring their learning to life, offering audiences the chance to observe, reflect, and engage in dialogue about creative learning, ecological embodiment, and collaborative practice.

Educational Tools and Resources

The pilot project of Echoes of land was developed in collaboration with pupils from Tollcross Primary School (P4, P5, P5/6, P6) and the Echoes of Land creative team.

We  developed Educational tools including a digital booklet:

  • "Outdoors Creative Education: An Embodied Approach" which is available to anyone interested:
  • EOL-Educational tools booklet

  • We  offer day workshops:  Echoed of land Project - Lab

focused on facilitating dialogue and experimentation at the intersection of performing arts, the environment, and creative learning.

These tools provide a comprehensive overview of our methodology, delivery methods, and the outcomes of our projects.

It includes detailed explanations of: Echoes of Land Session Plan – Discovering Our Habitat. This session focuses on exploring and understanding our natural environment. It includes practical activities that engage participants in hands-on discovery.

Through guided exploration and creative exercises, participants learn to observe, reflect, and connect with their habitat in a meaningful way.

The Echoes of Land Box.  This box is filled with materials for children and adults to explore and learn together through hands-on play. It contains natural objects and materials collected during outdoor explorations.

The Card Game. Ready-to-use activities designed for ongoing discovery, inspiring new ideas, and fostering reflection on our connection with the land. This simple and fun activity encourages exploration of the environment through multi-sensory experiences. It can be played individually or in groups, using natural materials from the surroundings.

Our Approach

Together, we practice place-responsive movement, learning to listen, observe, and respond creatively to the environment around us. This artist-led program was developed by a team of expertises in various  disciplines including  dance, ecological embodiment,  education, children right, music composition. The methodology is based on outdoors explorations through movement, ecological observation, and child-led creativity, integrating bespoke music inspired by natural sounds ensuring age-appropriate and engaging workshops. Exercises are continually tested internally, evaluated and in continuous development using a cyclical feedback process.
